If you are are curious about how the process actually works and what happens throughout web site design when working with BSi, The steps below explain the process from start to finish and give you an idea of what you could expect when working with us. This is just a general guideline. Your project could easily have issues that are not addressed here.
Planning and Price Quotation Phase
Web Site Strategy. We will assist you in thinking about what you wish to accomplish with your new web site. This will include determining if you will need any special functionality or interactivity with your visitors and considering the type of design style which appeals to you. Based on the information we gather, we attempt to determine your needs, what you are expecting from your web site, and try to get a feel for your industry. Once we have a thorough understanding of the needs and timelines and a site map has been created, a proposal will be submitted to you with costs and other important information.
Web Site Development Proposal and Contract. Once we have come to an agreement on project details, timeline and price, we will prepare a web site development proposal and contract for you to review, sign and send back with your deposit.
Deposit and Fee Structure. The signed contract and 50% deposit are required before your project can begin. The balance will be due upon project completion. Once we have received your 50% deposit and signed contract, we will provide you with a copy of the fully executed contract and your project start date. All projects are scheduled on a “first come, first served” basis.
Domain Name Registration / Web Site Hosting. We will make securing your desired domain name (pending availability) an easy process and walk you through all steps to insure that you remain in control of the name. If you require hosting services we are willing to discuss options.
Graphic Design Phase
Custom Designed Web Site Concepts. We will provide three possible custom designed home page concepts for your project. In most cases, we will be able to provide these designs within 3-5 business days following your start date. After you have reviewed the designs and decided which one you would like to use, we will continue to make modifications to the design until the final desired look is achieved. During this process, you will have the opportunity to review progress. (See next item.)
In-Progress Viewing. We establish a private directory for your new web site on our "construction" server so that you may view the web site development progress at any time. In addition, your project manager will inform you via e-mail when extensive updates to the site have been made so you can review the most recent progress.
Professional Stock Photography. All projects include use of professional stock photography images from our current library. If a client requires stock photography which we do not possess, an additional fee may apply.
Web Site Development / Coding Phase
Programming / Coding. All web site development programming/coding and any special features/visitor interactivity on your web site is completed and tested.
Web Site Pages. Based upon your contract, agreed-upon site map and the final design you selected, we create as many static or dynamic pages as needed to complete your site. Additionally, navigation links or drop down menus, and rollover effects, if desired, are completed.
Content. Incorporation of your logo, photos and text content is included in all projects. Custom logo design is available for an additional fee.
Response Forms / e-mail Contact Forms. We always recommend at least one contact form for your visitors' convenience. By using a contact form, a visitor can e-mail you directly from your web site without needing to open their e-mail program. This is especially convenient if a visitor is not using their own computer, making their e-mail program unavailable.
Testing Phase
Search Engine Readiness Check. Search engine optimization evaluation and adjustments will be made where needed throughout the web site. We can not guess or guarantee when or where the search engines will place your web site within their search results or directory.
Browser Compatibility Testing. Your web site will be tested on a variety of operating systems and browsers to insure proper display and functionality, including several versions of IE and Firefox.
Web Site Forms / Programming. Any e-mail contact forms and/or programming features included in your project will be tested to confirm they are functioning as required. Additionally, the site will be checked carefully to make sure all links are operational and pages are in place.
Launch Phase
Final Payment. Final payment is due before we connect the web site to your domain and make it live. We will e-mail you an invoice for final payment once the web site completion checklist is final.
Web Site Launch. All necessary web site files and scripts will be uploaded to your server and databases will be set up.
Error Testing. After the web site is live, any interactive programming and scripts will be tested immediately to verify proper function. Since the design and testing phase sometimes occurs on a different server, it is very important to once again verify that everything is working correctly after the web site is live.
Documentation and Instructions. When necessary, any documentation needed to use the administration functions of your web site will be sent to you.
